HR and Remuneration Forums
Latest Remuneration Trends
In conjunction with our strategic partner, Mercer, we have recently held very successful HR and remuneration forums in Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill. As well as presenting the latest remuneration trends, the forums provided clients with some key insights into current thinking on workforce development and measuring HR effectiveness.
Continuing a trend that has now extended for a number of years, Mercer's most recent survey data confirms median market movements in base salary over the past 12 months in the order of 4.6% to 4.8%. Median total employment cost (base salary plus fixed benefits) has increased 5.0% or more for most job types and sizes.
Furthermore, despite the tough economic times, employers are still budgeting for median base salary increases of 4.0% over the next twelve months. This is a clear indication that employers recognise the need to retain their skilled workers through the current recession to ensure they are positioned to capitalise on future growth opportunities.
